Aminulrasyid Hamzah, a 15 years old teenager from Shah Alam was accidentally shot by police man. This case leads to a clamorous uproar among Malaysian. In reality, this is not the first time such case occurred. Before this, in 2009 there were two similar cases which happened to Shahril Azlan Ahmad Kamil and Norizan Salleh. These two cases are also the result of random shooting by policeman. While in 2007, the same case occurred to Suwandi Abdul Ghani and Muhammad Azman Aziz. These repeated cases arouse worries among Malaysian because it involves our safety.
Since this incident occurred, a lot of different versions and stories were published by media. To be fair, media should not publish any statements without any concrete source of facts, just for the sake of publicity. Maruf Club hopes that all IIUM students will not make their own conclusions and judgments randomly. Our advice to students is to not to blame any side especially Aminulrasyid’s family and Police di-Raja Malaysia. We cannot simply label Aminulrasyid as a criminal because his action at that time might be due to panicking of being chased; and probably most normal people will also behave the same way if he or she is in the same shoes as him. It is not a right action to simply blame Aminulrasyid and his family. Irresponsible judgments will just aggravate the situation. At the same time we also cannot solely put the blame on
We hope that this case can quickly be investigated and done with the process being transparency. All progress of investigation must be published to the public so that, Malaysian will know what is the truth behind this incident. We do believe that our Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abd Razak, together with Minister of Home Affairs Dato’ Sri Hisamuddin Tun Hussien and Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Musa Hassan will do their best to solve this issue.
